When Did You Last Have Your Eyes Tested? (a friendly reminder)

If your answer to that question is "a while ago" or "I haven’t had one before," you're not alone. Most adults in Nigeria have never had a comprehensive eye exam. Not because they can't access one, but because nothing has obviously gone wrong yet. And in the absence of a clear crisis, eye health tends to sit at the bottom of a very long list.
The problem with that logic is that your eyes rarely announce trouble loudly. Deteriorating vision is gradual enough that your brain compensates by adjusting, straining, and adapting until a new normal quietly replaces the old one. The headaches you get by 4pm, the way you reduce your screen brightness in the evenings, the unconscious squint you've developed. They are your visual system working overtime to cover for something that a thirty-minute eye exam would identify and correct.
For most adults with no existing prescription, every two years is the recommended interval for a routine check. If you already wear glasses or contact lenses, that comes down to once a year — prescriptions shift, and wearing the wrong correction is worse than people assume. Anyone over 40 should be testing annually regardless, as the risk profile for glaucoma and other conditions rises in ways that are only detectable through a proper examination, not through how clearly you can read a text message.

The version of you that skips the eye test isn't being tough. It's just uninformed about how quietly things can change before they become irreversible.
The best time to check your eyes is before you need to.
Whether your last test revealed a prescription or not, quality eyewear starts with knowing what your eyes actually need. At Cobeiin Optical, we're here when you're ready to take that step.
